Message I'm currently not pasing idle emissions on CO. I'm running about a 1.9 and I need under a 1. Long story short, last summer I did some work to my z, mainly removing coolant lines and AIV. Shortly after I noticed my cats were smelling pretty bad. This last Saturday, I welded in some magnaflow cats and tried to pass again, but failed.

My questions.

1. I seem to remember Ash saying that the AIV shouldn't matter on CO emissions. And with good cats, you should be able to pass easy. Do I need an ECU with no AIV program to pass? Does the AIV have anything to do with CO emissions in this case?

2. Do new cats need any type of breakin period? Am I not driving the car long enough before heading into the tesing facility? I think on average, I've had about 20 minutes of good high revs before I test, but then sit in line idling for another 10-15 minutes before going through. Should I be driving for an hour to get a saturated heat effect out of the cats?

3. Is there anything else I'm overloooking that could cause the high CO? When I fail the idle CO, they rev up the car to 2500 for a couple seconds and take another reading. It appears the car is going to pass after the idle up, but then it just barely squeaks past 1.
